The Battery 2.6 is a home storage battery module from GivEnergy, a UK energy hardware manufacturer. GivEnergy’s own name for it is the Giv-Bat 2.6, and it is the smallest pack in the company’s first-generation modular range. It is a low-voltage DC module rather than an all-in-one unit, so it stores energy but relies on a separate GivEnergy inverter to convert and control it.
The specifications explained
The cells use LFP chemistry, which GivEnergy notes is cobalt-free. A BMS is built into the module and is described as upgradeable; it monitors the pack and governs how far it charges and discharges.
GivEnergy publishes a total capacity and a depth-of-discharge limit, not a usable figure. Usable capacity is the portion a home can actually draw; the reserve held below the depth-of-discharge point protects the cells and is not available for everyday use.
The module is rated by current rather than by a figure in kilowatts. How much power the battery can deliver, and how fast it charges, are set by the inverter it is wired to rather than by the pack on its own.
The original warranty was set by two limits together, a term in years and a total energy throughput. Throughput is the cumulative energy pushed through the pack across its life, so a battery cycled hard reaches the energy limit sooner than one cycled lightly. GivEnergy Ltd’s administrator has since stated that the company will honour no further hardware warranties.
Its ingress protection rating covers dust and low-pressure water jets, so the pack can sit in a garage, loft or other space outside the living area. The temperature limits are set separately for charging, discharging and storage, and the charging window is the narrowest of the three. A cold loft or garage in winter can drop below the temperature at which the pack will charge while still allowing it to discharge.
The pack is modular and can be banked with further units, so capacity is added a module at a time rather than as one fixed block; GivEnergy does not publish a maximum stack size. Its compact size and low weight are why GivEnergy points it at new build, social housing and flats, and at loft or hard-to-access installs where a larger unit will not fit.
Compatibility and context
The Battery 2.6 works with GivEnergy inverters and communicates with them over RS485 using the Modbus protocol. Because the module carries no inverter of its own, system-level behaviour sits with the paired inverter and any backup gateway rather than the battery. The coupling type, power-cut operation and continuous power all depend on the connected inverter and system arrangement.
Availability and manufacturer status
The Battery 2.6 had already been superseded by later GivEnergy modules before GivEnergy Ltd entered administration and ceased trading on 9 April 2026. The page and original datasheets are retained for installed systems. Owners needing support are directed to their installer in the first instance.
