Home battery brand
Tesla
Tesla supplies the Powerwall home battery system and Gen 3 Wall Connector in the UK, with app-based monitoring and control across its home-energy and EV-charging products.
Tesla is an American EV and energy company whose UK home-energy range covers battery storage, backup control and AC vehicle charging. Its products use the same Tesla app, but a Powerwall and a Wall Connector remain separate pieces of electrical equipment with different ratings, installation requirements and warranties.
Powerwall range
Powerwall is a rechargeable home battery system that can store electricity from solar or the grid. Tesla’s current UK support material distinguishes two generations. Powerwall 3 combines 13.5 kWh of storage with a single-phase solar inverter, allowing a compatible PV array to connect on the DC side. Powerwall 2 is a 13.5 kWh AC-coupled battery intended to be added to an existing solar installation and works alongside the existing solar inverter.
Powerwall 3 Expansion is a current battery-only companion product. Backup Gateway 2 is the supported UK Powerwall 3 islanding device. A supported non-backup arrangement does not use that gateway, so Backup Gateway 2 is not inherent to every installation.
EV charging
Tesla’s Gen 3 Wall Connector is a Type 2 AC chargepoint rated up to 32 A and 22 kW, with Wi-Fi, app functions and power management.
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles list dated 15 June 2026 recorded the Gen 3 Wall Connector as eligible for residential chargepoint grants. Grant eligibility is time-bound.
