REC
REC is a Norwegian-founded solar-panel manufacturer with production in Singapore. Its UK-listed modules include Alpha heterojunction panels and TwinPeak 5 p-type panels.
REC is a solar-panel manufacturer founded in Oslo in 1996. It remains headquartered in Norway, while its operational headquarters and panel manufacturing are in Singapore. The company also identifies regional hubs in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific.
Ownership and organisation
Reliance New Energy Solar Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries, agreed to acquire all of REC in October 2021. REC states that the acquisition completed in December 2021. It continues to use REC Solar Pte Ltd as the manufacturer named on its panel datasheets and UK product records.
The distinction matters when checking paperwork. REC is the brand, REC Solar Pte Ltd is the manufacturer shown in the MCS Product Directory and Reliance is the parent group.
UK product position
REC’s current international range is centred on Alpha heterojunction technology. The global English product navigation lists Alpha Pure-R and the larger Alpha Pure-RX, while the document library also carries Alpha Pure 2 material. Pure 2 and Pure-R share a 400 W to 430 W nominal range in their current datasheets but use different cell layouts and module dimensions.
TwinPeak is the earlier p-type mono line. TwinPeak 5 remains documented on REC’s site and exact standard and Black variants still have current MCS entries. Its position in the range is therefore different from the Alpha products even where the nominal wattages overlap.
At 23 July 2026, the MCS Product Directory contains current exact-code records for Alpha Pure 2, Alpha Pure-R and TwinPeak 5. The register works at model level: the complete code, wattage and dimensions must match the installed panel and handover record.
Panel names and constructions
The Alpha name identifies a technology family rather than one physical format. Pure 2 uses 132 half-cut heterojunction cells in a narrower module. Pure-R uses 80 half-cut heterojunction cells in a shorter, wider format. Pure-RX is another distinct format and should not be collapsed into the Pure-R record.
TwinPeak 5 uses p-type monocrystalline cells and REC’s split-panel layout. Standard and Black versions differ in rear finish and have separate MCS codes. A shortened description such as REC 410 W does not establish which construction is specified.
Warranty route
The current REC product datasheets state a standard 20-year product warranty and a 25-year power warranty. Alpha and TwinPeak have different warranted degradation schedules, so the family-specific document remains important.
REC ProTrust is a conditional extension rather than the automatic standard cover. It can provide a 25-year product warranty and labour cover where an REC Certified Solar Professional installs the panels and registers the system. Labour duration depends on system size and further warranty conditions. The installer route, registration record and applicable terms therefore belong with the product code in the handover documents.
