Baxi
Baxi is a long-established UK heating and hot-water brand within BDR Thermea Group. Its current residential air source heat pumps include the R32 HP40 and R290 HP60, with HP50 and HP55 equivalents for the Baxi Assure specification channel.
Baxi is a UK heating and hot-water brand whose product range includes boilers, air source heat pumps, cylinders and controls. The business traces the Baxi name to Preston in 1866. Baxi Heating UK Limited is an active UK company and forms part of BDR Thermea Group, a heating and cooling manufacturer headquartered in the Netherlands.
Residential heat pumps
Baxi’s homeowner and installer ranges centre on two air-to-water monobloc families. The HP40 is an R32 range in 4, 5, 7, 8, 11 and 13 kW model designations. All six outputs have single-phase versions, with additional three-phase 11 and 13 kW models. The outdoor unit is supplied with a basic controller and can be paired with Baxi’s heat-pump cylinders.
The newer HP60 is the high-temperature R290 residential range. Its model designations are 4, 6, 8, 11 and 13 kW, with three-phase alternatives at 11 and 13 kW. Maximum flow temperature is 75°C at -10°C outdoor air. An HP60 needs the separate Baxi ASHP Control unless it is installed with the Baxi ASHP Pre-plumbed Cylinder, which incorporates the control function.
Current MCS Product Directory records cover each HP40 and HP60 model separately. The complete model number matters because it distinguishes output and phase. The HP60 records publish lower SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance) values than Baxi’s live technical table for the same model names. Both are current published figures with different documentary purposes, as detailed on the HP60 model page.
Baxi Assure range
Baxi Assure is the company’s residential specification and social-housing channel. Its HP50 has the same output steps, R32 refrigerant, seasonal performance, acoustic figures and casings as the HP40, but uses HP50 model numbers and separate MCS records. Baxi’s January 2026 guide also gives the two families the same nominal output at -5°C outdoor air and 55°C flow. The live HP50 page publishes a different output row for that test point, as explained on the HP50 page. The HP55 is the corresponding R290 family for this channel. Baxi states that it has the same features as the HP60, while the MCS directory gives each HP55 variant its own record.
The distinction is therefore commercial and documentary as well as technical. HP50 and HP55 use their own model records and cannot be represented by the better-known HP40 or HP60 names.
Commercial systems and company structure
Baxi also sells commercial heating equipment. The Auriga HP is a three-phase R32 monobloc family in 20T, 26T, 33T and 40T models, with cascade arrangements up to 320 kW. The live technical page and January 2026 guide identify the third model as 33T, product code 7832031, although the commercial range card calls it 30 kW. Auriga HP+ is a higher-temperature R290 family in 20T and 30T models, with flow temperatures up to 80°C and cascades up to eight units. Both sit outside Baxi’s ordinary single-home range and should not be confused with the residential products.
Baxi Heating UK Limited, company number 03879156, is registered in Warwick. The brand forms part of BDR Thermea Group. Baxi’s UK range also includes gas boilers, heat-pump cylinders and heating controls.
