Enphase

Enphase Energy is a US energy-technology company founded in 2006. Its solar architecture places a microinverter behind each PV module. The microinverters feed an AC branch circuit and communicate with an IQ Gateway, which provides commissioning, monitoring and grid-control functions.

Current UK equipment

Enphase’s current UK microinverter store lists IQ9N alongside IQ8MC, IQ8AC, IQ8HC, IQ8X and IQ8P. Enphase announced in June 2026 that IQ9N shipments through UK distribution partners had begun that month. The products cover different power, current and voltage requirements, so the exact solar module still needs checking in Enphase’s compatibility calculator.

IQ Battery 5P is the highlighted current home battery. The single-phase IQBATTERY-5P-1P-INT has 5.0 kWh usable capacity and 3.2 kVA continuous output. IQ Battery 5P with FlexPhase uses a different SKU and embedded microinverter type and can be configured for single-phase or three-phase operation. Enphase also retains UK documentation for IQ Battery 3T and 10T, but their current new-supply position is less clear.

IQ Gateway Metered measures and communicates with the system. An IQ System Controller 3 INT is required for a supported 5P backup arrangement. It supports specified single-phase and three-phase configurations, but the battery quantity, phase allocation, protected loads and current limits still need a system design.

The current UK IQ EV Charger 2 is a single-phase, tethered Type 2 charger rated up to 7.4 kW and 32 A. It can operate independently or integrate with supported Enphase monitoring and solar-charging controls.

Microinverter design

Each panel and microinverter pair operates independently, so the array does not use one common high-voltage DC string. That can be useful where modules have different orientations or shading, but it does not make module matching optional. Voltage, current and connector limits apply at the lowest and highest design temperatures.

The AC branch also has design limits. Cable length, voltage rise, protective devices, phase allocation and the permitted number of microinverters per branch need the exact Enphase design documents.

Generations and compatibility

IQ7 and IQ8 are product generations, not single models. Current IQ8 documentation permits some additions to existing IQ7 systems only in stated configurations and directions. It does not allow every mixed-generation arrangement. Gateway software, cabling, system-controller generation and battery type all matter.

Warranty and support

The Enphase UK warranty library separates documents by product and activation date. The microinverter schedule effective from 30 September 2025 gives listed IQ9, IQ8 and IQ7 microinverters 25 years and listed IQ Gateways five years. The storage schedule effective from 15 September 2025 gives listed IQ Battery 5P products 15 years or 6,000 discharged cycles and listed IQ System Controller products ten years. Registration, authorised supply, connectivity and the other terms apply.

Those current schedules define their covered territory as Scotland, England and Wales. They should therefore be described as Great Britain warranties, not as proof of identical cover in Northern Ireland. Equipment in Northern Ireland needs the document applicable to its territory, SKU and activation date.

The applicable document is the one covering the exact SKU and activation date. Handover records should retain every microinverter serial number, gateway details, array map, commissioning report, warranty document and system-owner access.
