EV charger brand

Indra

Indra Renewable Technologies is a British EV chargepoint manufacturer whose current home range comprises the tethered Smart LUX and socketed Smart PRO.

Indra Renewable Technologies develops connected EV chargepoints in Malvern, Worcestershire. The company describes its chargers as designed and manufactured in the UK and provides UK sales, installer and customer-support routes.

Current home range

The current range has two 7.4 kW, single-phase chargers. Smart LUX is tethered, with a fixed Type 2 cable in 6 m or 10 m lengths. Smart PRO is presented on Indra’s current installer page as a socketed charger, so the driver supplies a separate Type 2 cable.

Both models use the Indra app for schedules, immediate boost charging, session records and charger locking. They support solar-surplus charging and load curtailment when the required measurement and commissioning are in place. Wi-Fi is standard, while 4G and Ethernet are documented as optional communications.

The current technical documents specify integrated 6 mA DC leakage detection and Indra’s PEST protection, which covers PEN-fault, earthing, simultaneous-contact and touch-voltage functions. These charger functions do not replace the installation design. Circuit protection, earthing, cable sizing and load assessment still have to follow the instructions and current UK electrical requirements.

Smart PRO and earlier labels

Smart PRO has appeared in socketed and tethered forms and under Smart PRO Gen 2, partner-branded and refurbished labels. Indra’s current consumer and installer pages foreground the socketed form, but the technical-document library still provides datasheets for both socketed and tethered hardware.

That distinction matters when identifying an installed unit. A model name alone does not establish its connector, cable length or warranty. The product code, serial or MAC address and handover documents provide the more useful record. GOV.UK grant-list rows also contain individual Smart PRO and Smart LUX product codes, but a listing does not show that the product remains on sale or that a particular applicant or installation qualifies for a grant.

Warranty and connected operation

For products purchased on or after 5 December 2025, Indra’s current warranty states a three-year product term beginning on installation by a qualified electrical contractor. Earlier written terms varied by product code, including five-year terms for some earlier Smart LUX and Smart PRO units. The dated warranty supplied with the charger should therefore be retained rather than applying today’s term retrospectively.

Remote schedules, tariff functions, records and software updates depend on the Indra service, app and a working network connection. Basic charging also depends on the charger being commissioned correctly and, where used, the current-transformer measurement being installed in the correct position and direction.
