BYD

BYD makes LFP battery systems sold under the Battery-Box name, including modular high-voltage and low-voltage families used with compatible third-party inverters.

BYD is a Chinese battery manufacturer whose stationary storage products are sold under the Battery-Box name. For UK homes, a Battery-Box is normally the DC battery part of a wider system. It needs a separately supplied compatible inverter to charge it, discharge it and provide any AC output or backup function.

Product range

The established high-voltage range is divided into HVS and HVM, which use different module and voltage schedules. The low-voltage range includes LVS and LVL. These names identify separate battery families rather than interchangeable descriptions of one product.

BYD’s two official product portals do not present an identical range. The Battery-Box service site continues to publish documents for HVS, HVM, LVS and LVL, including BCU2.0 material for HVS and HVM. BYD Energy Storage’s current residential library adds HVB, HVE, HVS+, HVM+ and LV5.0+, together with the Power-Box SH3-6K, TH5-15K and SL3-6K hybrid-inverter families. It also lists the Combiner Box Plus CBH-70A for connecting up to three compatible high-voltage towers and a Smart WiFi/LAN Module for supported batteries and inverters. A global product page, UKCA marking or document in that library does not by itself establish UK supply.

HVC, LV Flex and LVS Lite also appear in manufacturer-origin documents. Their public pages are retained because the equipment may appear in project or installed-system records, but their UK status is recorded separately where a current UK sales and residential-warranty route has not been established.

Names and generations

The earlier Battery-Box H range predates Battery-Box Premium HVS and HVM. It ran from H 5.1 to H 11.5 using four to nine 1.28 kWh modules. In particular, Battery-Box H 10.2 is not Premium HVS 10.2, even though both state 10.24 kWh usable energy. The older pages are marked as superseded so installed equipment is not mistaken for a present family.

HVS and HVM now also have BCU2.0 documentation alongside material for the preceding control unit. The battery label, control-unit version and module type therefore matter when checking manuals, replacement parts or expansion options.

Compatibility, backup and support

Battery-Box batteries communicate with an external inverter. Compatibility is specific to the inverter model, battery generation, permitted module count and any required firmware condition.

Battery-Box products can form part of on-grid, backup and off-grid systems. The battery does not produce a backup supply by itself. Backup depends on a compatible inverter with the relevant output, along with the installed changeover, protection, earthing and circuit arrangement.

European service information in BYD’s manuals and warranty documents names EFT-Systems as the service partner and includes a UK contact number. Warranty schedules vary by family, generation, country and use. In the European documents available on 22 July 2026, HVB and HVE have 15-year product warranties, while HVS+ and HVM+ have ten-year product warranties. Their performance cover ends when the stated period or model-specific energy-throughput limit is reached first. HVB specifies 70% retained usable energy, while HVE, HVS+ and HVM+ specify 60%. These schedules apply only to the models, dates, territory and residential use defined in each letter.

The Power-Box warranty letter available on the same date gives SH3-6K, TH5-15K and SL3-6K inverters five years as standard. It describes an automatic extension to ten years only when all listed monitoring, installer and BYD Battery-Box conditions are met. Statutory rights are separate from these manufacturer terms.
