Humax
Humax is a South Korean technology company whose UK EV charging range includes the 7.4 kW MX7 home charger and the earlier EQ7. It also supplies commercial charging systems.
Humax is a South Korean technology company that sells home and commercial EV charging equipment in the UK. Its current home range centres on the MX7, alongside ongoing product and support information for the earlier EQ7.
The wider Humax business was founded in 1989 and originally developed digital television equipment. It opened a UK subsidiary in Northern Ireland in 1997 and a London sales office in 2002. Humax later expanded into mobility services, fleet systems and EV charging, establishing Humax EV in 2020. Humax Electronics Co., Ltd operates the UK charging business from a London contact address.
MX7 home charger
The MX7 is a single-phase 7.4 kW home chargepoint sold in socketed and tethered forms. The tethered versions have either a 5 m or 7.5 m Type 2 cable. Its communications include Wi-Fi, Ethernet, Bluetooth and optional 4G, with OCPP 1.6J for connection to a charging service.
Humax introduced the MX7 in 2025 as its second-generation UK charger. It has an integrated power-line communication module, supports the ISO 15118 vehicle communication protocol and can identify compatible vehicles automatically. Vehicle-to-grid and vehicle-to-home functions were not commercially supported at 22 July 2026. They depend on compatible vehicle hardware and software, certification, network approval and supporting services.
The Humax Charge app provides scheduling, charging records, access control and remote start and stop. RFID cards provide another access method. A current transformer can be connected for dynamic load balancing and solar-surplus charging. These functions depend on the energy-monitoring device being installed and configured as part of the system.
EQ7 and current availability
The EQ7 is the earlier tethered home charger, also described in Humax and UK government records as the eCord home charger. It is a single-phase Type 2 unit with a 4 m or 7 m cable. App and card access, scheduled charging, Ethernet, Wi-Fi, current-transformer load balancing and solar charging are supported.
The EQ7 remained in Humax’s UK product menu on 22 July 2026, with manuals, installer guidance and support pages still available. Direct sales were temporarily unavailable and out of stock on that date. No end-of-life notice had been issued, so the product remained current in the catalogue despite the interruption to direct availability.
Grant eligibility and commercial range
The OZEV list published on 15 June 2026 includes both EQ7 cable variants and the socketed and tethered MX7 model codes. Listing makes a model eligible for the grant schemes identified in that register, subject to the applicant, property, installation and scheme rules. Eligibility and the available schemes can change, so the current government list takes precedence over older product claims.
Humax also offers commercial AC and DC charging systems for workplaces, fleets and public-facing sites. The UK commercial range includes 7 kW and 22 kW AC equipment and 30 kW DC equipment, with the broader range extending to 300 kW. The next named MX22 product had an August 2026 launch date. At 22 July 2026, that launch had not occurred and current product documentation was not yet available.
