NIBE F470 is a current indoor exhaust-and-supply-air heat pump. It combines water-based space heating, domestic hot water and balanced mechanical ventilation in one cabinet. NIBE’s UK page lists the F470 R 1x230V model.
Heating and ventilation
F470 extracts warm, stale air from rooms such as kitchens and bathrooms and recovers energy before discharging it. A supply-air battery uses heating water to temper the incoming air, while adjustable extract and supply fans allow the ventilation system to be balanced.
This arrangement is different from an outdoor air-source heat pump. Its operation depends on the dwelling’s designed supply and extract airflow as well as its heat loss. Air inlets, extracts, ductwork, terminals, filters and commissioning measurements are therefore part of the heat-pump system, not separate details.
Integrated equipment
NIBE describes F470 as containing the compressor, hot-water cylinder, supply-air battery, circulation pump, shunt valve, expansion vessel and safety devices. This reduces the number of separate major appliances, but the installation still needs the specified pipework, tundish discharge, condensate route, ductwork, electrical supply and any site-specific components.
The published cabinet size is 2,125 mm high, 600 mm wide and 616 mm deep, with a net weight of 207 kg. NIBE states 200 litres of mixed hot water at 40°C under its test basis. That mixed-water quantity is not the physical cylinder volume or a guarantee for every draw pattern.
Heat-loss and ventilation design
F470 sizing combines a room-by-room heat-loss calculation with ventilation calculations for supply and extract locations, design airflows, duct pressure losses and noise measures. Commissioning then records the measured balance.
System sizing uses the available heat output at the design condition, emitter flow temperature, hot-water assumptions, electrical load and supplementary heating strategy. Cabinet dimensions do not include the space needed for ducts, pipes, connections and service access.
NIBE describes the product as using a natural refrigerant but does not name it on the current UK page, so an exact refrigerant should come from the data plate and matching manual. Warranty eligibility depends on registration, installer route, servicing and the full NIBE UK terms.
