NIBE S1156 is a current inverter-driven ground-source heat-pump family without an integrated hot-water cylinder. NIBE’s UK page lists 8, 13 and 18 designations and also shows variants prepared for passive cooling.
Range and performance
The product modulates rather than operating at one fixed heat output. NIBE publishes a maximum SCOP (seasonal coefficient of performance) of up to 6.22 for the family under its stated test basis. This is a manufacturer test result, not a forecast for every property. Source temperature, flow temperature, ground-array pumping and domestic hot-water operation all influence seasonal performance.
The 8, 13 and 18 names should not be treated as guaranteed outputs at the design condition. Output and efficiency come from the tables for the exact suffix at the design brine and heating-water temperatures.
System arrangement
S1156 is an indoor brine-to-water unit. It needs a designed borehole, trench or other suitable source circuit, plus the required pumps, expansion and safety equipment. Because it has no integrated domestic hot-water cylinder, the cylinder and its controls are separate selections.
Passive-cooling capability also depends on the exact variant and installed accessories. Passive cooling uses the relatively low ground-loop temperature rather than running the compressor as a conventional chiller, but it still needs a designed distribution and condensation-control arrangement.
S1156 uses NIBE’s S-Series control platform and myUplink connectivity. Monitoring and remote adjustment do not replace commissioning of weather compensation, flow rates, hot water and any supplementary heater.
Ground-side and heating design
System sizing uses room-by-room heat loss, design flow temperature, emitter output and hot-water demand. The ground array is sized from the assumed ground conditions, loop length or borehole design, extraction rate, antifreeze, pressure and circulating-pump duty.
The exact model and phase determine the electrical load and available internal supplementary heat; any external supplementary heat and the DNO route form part of the same system design. A maximum flow-temperature or SCOP headline is not a sizing method.
Current NIBE UK warranty terms require timely registration and distinguish the standard route from qualifying NIBE Pro installer routes. The terms supplied with the exact product and the annual service requirements remain controlling.
