Solis AC-coupled inverter

Solis’s current AC-coupled range adds a battery inverter to an existing grid-tied solar installation. The battery charges and discharges through the property’s AC wiring, while the original solar inverter continues to convert panel output.

Current single-phase products

S5-EA1P3K-L is a 3 kW low-voltage AC-coupled inverter. S6-EA1P(3.6-6)K-L is the newer family, with the current product material identifying 3.6, 4.6, 5 and 6 kW classes. Solis describes peak-shaving and time-of-use controls plus a backup output.

These products do not accept solar strings. The existing solar array remains connected to its separate grid-tied inverter, so metering and export limitation need to account for both converters.

Current three-phase product

S6-EA3P(5-10)KAA-NV-YD-H-PRO is a high-voltage three-phase family with 5, 6, 8 and 10 kW variants. The UK page states a 120 to 700 V battery range and up to 50 A charge and discharge current. It also describes unbalanced output, but the exact per-phase limit still governs load allocation.

Compatibility and backup

Neither nominal battery voltage nor chemistry establishes compatibility. The exact battery model, communications, module count and firmware must match the current Solis document.

AC-coupled backup also requires a defined switching and protected-load arrangement. The inverter’s port rating does not show whether the existing solar inverter can operate during an outage or whether the whole property is connected.

The UK limited warranty effective from 1 July 2025 gives energy-storage inverters on sale five years, subject to eligibility and exclusions. Earlier products retain their original terms.
