Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector is a tethered AC chargepoint with a Type 2 plug. It works with Tesla vehicles and other compatible EVs. The unit can supply up to 32 A, which corresponds to 7.4 kW on a 230 V single-phase circuit and up to 22 kW on a suitable three-phase supply.

Charging power and compatibility

The maximum printed chargepoint rating is not necessarily the rate a vehicle will take. The vehicle’s onboard AC charger, the number of phases available and the commissioned current setting all apply limits. Current Tesla vehicles take up to 7.4 kW on single phase or 11 kW on a compatible three-phase supply, even though the Wall Connector hardware can provide 22 kW to a vehicle able to use it.

The fixed cable is 7.3 m long. The unit can be fitted indoors or outdoors.

Smart control and load management

Wi-Fi is used for commissioning, Tesla app features and over-the-air firmware updates. The app provides charging schedules and usage data. Access control can restrict charging to selected Tesla vehicles, but the restriction does not act as universal authentication for other compatible EVs.

Power Management can reduce charging demand to suit the electrical capacity available at a property. Multiple Wall Connectors can also share an available supply. The installer still has to assess the service head, other loads, earthing and protective-device arrangement rather than assuming software control resolves every supply constraint.

Protection, warranty and grant listing

Integrated Type A residual-current protection includes 6 mA DC detection. The complete circuit and installation must still meet the applicable UK electrical and chargepoint requirements.

The warranty is 48 months for normal residential use and 12 months for normal commercial use, both measured from the invoice date and subject to the warranty terms. “Tesla Gen 3 Wall Connector” had residential grant-list status at 22.1 kW on 15 June 2026. Eligibility and the grants themselves can change, so this dated status is not a promise that a future installation will qualify.
