Vitocal 150-A is Viessmann’s current R290 air-to-water monobloc family for detached homes and modernisation projects. The system has an outdoor refrigerant unit and a separate indoor hydraulic unit. It provides space heating, active cooling and heat for a separate domestic-hot-water cylinder.
Types and ratings
The range comprises types 150.A04, A06, A08, A10, A13 and A16. At the A7/W35 test point their heating outputs are 4.0, 4.8, 5.6, 7.3, 8.1 and 9.1 kW respectively. The corresponding coefficients of performance are 5.0, 4.9, 4.7, 5.0, 4.9 and 4.9.
The family output range is 2.1 to 14.9 kW. That broader range reflects operation away from the single A7/W35 rating point. A model name or peak figure is therefore not a heat-loss design result.
Heating system
The maximum flow temperature is 70°C at outdoor temperatures down to -10°C. This extends the available design envelope, but it does not establish that existing radiators can remain unchanged. Heat loss, emitter output and seasonal performance still depend on the project’s design flow temperature.
The standard indoor unit contains a 16-litre heating-water buffer, 10-litre expansion vessel, secondary pump, instantaneous electrical heater and control unit. Domestic hot water needs a separate cylinder. A Modular version is also sold for systems designed around a separate buffer and does not have the same internal equipment.
Refrigerant, controls and warranty
The outdoor unit uses R290, or propane. Its refrigerant circuit is factory sealed, while the installer connects water pipework between the outdoor and indoor units. R290 affects siting and safety-zone requirements, so the exact planning and installation instructions apply.
Control is through a seven-inch colour touchscreen, with ViCare app operation and Viessmann One Base connectivity. At 23 July 2026, warranty cover was two years as standard with a paid route to seven years, subject to registration, servicing and the full terms.
