7kW charging

Also known as 7.4kW charging, 7 kW charging

7kW charging is AC EV charging at about seven kilowatts, usually from a single-phase home chargepoint.

7kW charging is AC EV charging at about seven kilowatts, usually from a single-phase home chargepoint on a UK domestic electrical supply. The figure is a maximum charging-power label for the chargepoint and installation, not a promise that the car will always draw that amount. Vehicle onboard-charger limits, charger configuration, load balancing, smart-charge schedules, temperature control, battery state of charge and solar or tariff settings can all make the actual charging rate lower. It is different from 22kW three-phase AC charging, DC rapid charging and any claim about a fixed charging time, tariff saving or solar-only mode.
