Annual generation

Annual generation is the amount of electricity a generating system produces over a year, usually expressed in kilowatt hours.

Annual generation is the total electricity produced by a generating system during a year, usually expressed in kilowatt hours (kWh). For home solar PV it may be an MCS performance estimate, an inverter or generation-meter figure, or a metered annual figure where available. It is different from annual consumption, import, export, self-consumption and self-sufficiency, because not every kilowatt hour generated is exported to the grid or used in the home. Export tariffs and SEG payments are based on exported electricity and the supplier's metering requirements, not on annual generation by itself.
