Array layout

An array layout is a drawing or plan that shows how solar PV modules are arranged on a roof, mounting frame or other installation area.

An array layout is the physical plan for how solar PV modules are arranged on a roof, mounting frame or other installation area. It may show the number and position of modules, rows or blocks, gaps around edges, rooflights, access routes and mounting zones. In home energy paperwork it matters because module position can affect maintenance access, emergency access, roof-edge wind uplift, rainwater run-off, snow shedding, roof loading and later inspection. It is not the same as a performance estimate, planning approval, structural calculation or electrical string design, although those documents may refer to the same array.
