Baseload

Baseload is the minimum amount of electricity demand or power that remains over a stated period, often described as the steady part of a demand profile. On the electricity system it is the level of demand that still exists when peaks are removed. In a household energy profile it may describe the background load from equipment that stays on while larger loads such as EV charging, heat pump operation, immersion heating or battery charging come and go. Baseload is not the same as annual consumption, peak load, a standing charge, an essential-loads circuit, backup capacity or proof that a PV array or battery storage system is correctly sized.
