Battery firmware and cloud dependency
Battery firmware and cloud dependency describes how much a home battery system relies on manufacturer software, firmware updates, internet-connected apps or cloud services for monitoring, settings, schedules, diagnostics, remote control or support.
Battery firmware and cloud dependency means the software and online-service reliance behind a home battery system. Firmware is the software inside the battery, inverter, gateway or controller, while cloud dependency is reliance on an internet service, app, portal or application programming interface (API) for functions such as monitoring, schedules, settings changes, tariff automation, diagnostics and firmware delivery. It is separate from the battery's usable capacity, warranty cover, local safety controls, backup wiring, MCS certification, DNO approval, export-tariff eligibility and proof that the product will remain supported.
