BS 9991 residential fire safety

BS 9991 (British Standard 9991) residential fire safety is a code of practice for fire safety in the design, management and use of residential buildings. BSI (British Standards Institution) records the current release as BS 9991:2024 and the FPA (Fire Protection Association) describes it as updated guidance for UK residential buildings, including houses, flats, student accommodation and care homes. In home energy work, the term may appear when equipment locations, service penetrations, plant areas or building-management documents need to be read alongside the wider residential fire strategy.
