CCS connector
Also known as Combined Charging System
A CCS connector is a Combined Charging System EV charging connector used for DC rapid charging, with the Combo 2 form specified for UK and European high-power public charging.
A CCS connector is a Combined Charging System connector for an EV. In the UK and Europe the relevant form is usually Combo 2, which combines the Type 2 AC charging shape with two additional DC pins for high-power DC charging. It is commonly seen on public rapid and ultra-rapid chargers and on EV charge inlets that can accept DC charging. The upper Type 2 part of the same vehicle inlet may also be used for normal home or workplace AC charging, but a domestic AC chargepoint is not using the lower DC pins. A CCS connector does not guarantee a particular charging speed, bidirectional charging, solar charging, tariff compatibility or battery-health result; the vehicle, charger, cable, battery state of charge, temperature and charging controls still determine what happens in a session.
