Competent Person Scheme

A Competent Person Scheme is a building-control route that allows a registered tradesperson or business to self-certify specified types of work as complying with Building Regulations. In home energy work the term can appear around electrical installations, heating and hot-water systems, renewable-energy work, certificates, scheme records and handover packs. The scheme must match the type of work, and the certificate is separate from planning permission, DNO approval, MCS certification, TrustMark registration, grant approval, export tariff registration, warranty cover and proof that the whole system is correctly designed or suitable.
