Condensate drainage

Condensate drainage is the planned route that carries condensation or defrost water from a heat pump outdoor unit or other appliance to a suitable drain, soakaway, gully or run-off point. In heat-pump paperwork it can appear in surveys, installation manuals, commissioning checklists and handover notes as a check that water can leave the unit safely and without freezing in the pipe or outlet. It is a drainage and siting detail, not the same as the condensate itself, a soakaway design, frost-protection design, planning permission, Building Regulations compliance, DNO approval or MCS certification.
