Curtailment

Also known as output curtailment, export curtailment

Curtailment is the deliberate reduction or limiting of generation, export, import or controllable load below what the equipment could otherwise do.

Curtailment is the deliberate reduction, limiting or stopping of generation, export, import or controllable load below what the equipment could otherwise do at that moment. In home energy documents it usually appears where a DNO, export-limiting scheme, inverter, battery control or flexible connection has to keep power flows within an agreed capacity or network limit. A curtailment event may reduce solar output, limit battery export or change another controllable device, depending on the scheme and the equipment.
