Data Communications Company

The Data Communications Company is the licensed organisation that operates Britain's secure smart meter communications network. The network connects smart meters with energy suppliers, DNO and other authorised users so smart-meter data can be transported securely without using a household's broadband connection. In home-energy paperwork, DCC references usually relate to whether a smart meter is connected, enrolled, sending readings or available for supplier services such as half-hourly import or export data. A DCC connection is separate from the supplier's bill calculation, export tariff acceptance, export MPAN creation, DNO approval, MCS certification, smart-tariff eligibility, meter accuracy, internet service and proof that a solar, battery, EV charger or heat-pump setup is suitable.
