DC charging

DC charging is EV charging where the charging equipment converts grid electricity to DC before sending it to the vehicle battery path. It is the charging type associated with rapid and ultra-rapid public chargers rather than ordinary home AC wallboxes, because the conversion equipment is in the charger instead of relying on the vehicle's onboard charger. The DC label does not promise a fixed charging speed or time. The vehicle limit, charger output, cable or connector, battery state of charge, battery temperature, site load sharing and charging controls still determine the power used during a session.
