DC to AC ratio

DC to AC ratio compares a solar PV array's rated DC size with the inverter's AC capacity.

DC to AC ratio is the relationship between a solar PV array's DC rating and the inverter's AC capacity. It is usually calculated as the array's DC power rating at standard test conditions divided by the inverter's AC capacity, so a value above 1 means the array rating is larger than the inverter rating. The figure helps explain why a design may show some inverter clipping, but it must be read with module power, inverter DC voltage and current limits, MPPT limits, AC output rating, export limits, temperature derating and MCS records.
