Deemed export is an estimated amount of electricity treated as exported, rather than a measured export reading.

Deemed export is an estimated export amount used instead of a meter reading. In UK home solar paperwork it most often appears around older Feed-in Tariff export payments, where an installation without an export meter, or one whose export cannot be properly measured, can be paid on a fixed percentage of its generated electricity. Ofgem says a FIT generator who moves from deemed export to metered export receives export payments based on the electricity recorded by the meter as exported to the grid. Deemed export is not the same as total solar generation, a SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) reading, an export MPAN, export capacity, DNO acceptance or proof that every exported kWh will be paid under a current tariff.
