Distribution network

The distribution network is the local electricity network of cables, overhead lines, substations and lower-voltage equipment that moves electricity from the transmission network to homes and businesses. In home-energy paperwork, the term appears when a property connects to the local network, changes import capacity or exports electricity from solar PV or storage. It can also appear when a property adds larger electrical loads such as an EV chargepoint or heat pump. It is not the transmission network, electricity supplier, DNO company, MPAN, export tariff or wiring inside the property.
