Earth electrode

An earth electrode is a conductor or group of conductors in close contact with the ground so an electrical installation can connect to earth. Electricity safety regulations define an earth electrode as a conductor or group of conductors in intimate contact with, and providing a connection with, earth. In domestic paperwork it may appear as an installation earth electrode, an earth rod or an electrode resistance or impedance value. For solar, battery, EV charging and heat-pump work, the term belongs to the property's earthing arrangement and fault-protection context, not to system performance.
