Electrical Installation Certificate

An Electrical Installation Certificate, often shortened to EIC, is the BS 7671 certificate used for electrical installation work such as a new installation, an addition or an alteration. The IET model form covers the client, installation address, description and extent of the work, design, construction, inspection and testing signatories, supply characteristics, earthing arrangements, schedules of inspections and schedules of test results. In home energy work it may appear in a handover pack where electrical work has been carried out for solar PV, battery storage, EV charging or heat pump equipment. It is separate from a Building Regulations compliance certificate, DNO approval, MCS certification, an Electrical Installation Condition Report, planning permission, product warranty cover, export tariff registration and proof that the whole system is correctly designed or suitable.
