Electrical Installation Condition Report

An Electrical Installation Condition Report, often shortened to EICR, is the BS 7671 report used after inspection and testing of an existing electrical installation. It records the parts inspected and tested, the limitations of the inspection, observations, classification codes and whether the installation is satisfactory or unsatisfactory for continued service at the date of inspection. In home energy work it may appear in property records, landlord paperwork, handover packs or pre-work surveys where the condition of the existing fixed wiring matters. It is separate from an Electrical Installation Certificate, Building Regulations compliance certificate, DNO approval, MCS certification, planning permission, product warranty cover, export tariff registration and proof that the whole system is correctly designed or suitable.
