Estimated reading

An estimated reading is a meter reading value an energy supplier has calculated because it does not have an actual smart, customer or meter-reader reading for that point in the billing period.

Estimated reading is a gas or electricity meter reading value that an energy supplier has estimated for a bill, statement or account page because it does not have an actual reading for that point in the billing period. It may be based on previous use, expected use or supplier billing assumptions, and it can be corrected when a smart-meter, customer-provided or meter-reader reading is available. It supports provisional billing until an actual reading is available.
