Export capacity

Export capacity is the permitted or agreed maximum rate at which electricity can flow from a property or installation to the distribution network, usually stated in kW, kVA or amps depending on the document. In home energy paperwork it can appear around solar PV, battery storage, bidirectional EV charging, G98 or G99 applications, G100 export limitation, connection offers and inverter export limits. It is different from annual exported kWh, the inverter's nameplate rating, PV array size and SEG or export-tariff eligibility. A site may have equipment that could export more than its agreed capacity, in which case export limiting or curtailment may be used where the DNO and equipment documents allow it.
