Export MPAN

Also known as Export Meter Point Administration Number, Export MPAN

Metering-point identifier used to register and pay for measured electricity exported to the grid.

An export MPAN is the MPAN used for electricity exported from a property to the electricity network. In electricity-industry records, the MPAN Core is the 13-digit identifier used as the reference for a particular metering point. A house normally has an import MPAN for electricity drawn from the grid, and a solar PV or battery system may need a separate export MPAN so an export supplier can register the metered export and pay under an export tariff such as the SEG (Smart Export Guarantee). It is an administrative identifier that links the export meter readings, supplier account and distribution-network registration. If export payments are delayed after commissioning, this is one of the details to check alongside smart-meter export readings, the DNO notification or application and the handover paperwork.
