Export permission is informal shorthand for DNO authorisation, connection terms or a completed notification route that allows a property to export electricity to the distribution network under stated limits or conditions. In home energy paperwork it can sit beside solar PV, export-capable battery storage, vehicle-to-grid equipment, G98 notifications, G99 application outcomes, connection offers, approval letters and G100 export-limitation material. Some small G98 installations use a connect-and-notify route, so the relevant record may be a post-installation notification rather than a pre-installation approval. For apply-to-connect cases, the important point is that the DNO has granted authorisation before the work is carried out. The phrase is not a standard document name, so it should be read with the specific DNO paperwork it refers to. It does not create an export MPAN, register a SEG (Smart Export Guarantee) tariff, prove MCS certification, set a settlement meter reading, approve later equipment changes or allow commissioned export-control settings to be changed without the relevant DNO agreement.
