Export settlement

Export settlement is the metering, supplier-account and market-settlement process that turns exported electricity readings into a credited export volume and, where a tariff applies, a payment. For domestic systems, the visible part is usually a SEG or supplier export account using smart-meter or export-meter readings, an export MPAN and supplier tariff terms. Behind the account, BSC (Balancing and Settlement Code) settlement uses metered volumes in settlement periods for electricity-market balancing and charges. The label is not the same as an export tariff, export rate, export MPAN setup, DNO approval, MCS certification, SEG acceptance, meter-accuracy proof, export-limit permission or a guarantee that battery exports will be paid.
