Feed-in Tariff

Also known as FIT

The Feed-in Tariff (FIT) is a closed Great Britain scheme that pays accredited small-scale low-carbon generators for electricity they generate and, where eligible, export.

Feed-in Tariff (FIT) usually means the Feed-in Tariffs scheme, a government-designed support scheme introduced on 1 April 2010 for eligible small-scale renewable and low-carbon electricity generation such as solar PV. Ofgem says the scheme closed to new applicants from 1 April 2019, but existing accredited installations are not affected by the closure and FIT support remains payable for their eligibility period. The label is separate from a SEG tariff, import unit rate, standing charge, export MPAN, smart-meter reading, DNO approval, MCS certificate, battery setting and any guarantee of savings or payment eligibility for a new installation.
