Forced charge is a battery or inverter control that commands the battery to charge during a defined period or until a target state of charge is reached.
Forced charge is a battery or inverter control that commands the battery to charge during a defined period, often from imported grid electricity, instead of waiting for normal self-consumption or automatic scheduling. It appears in battery apps, inverter settings and installer support guides as a timed charge, force charge period or forced charge setting with a start time, end time and sometimes a target state of charge. It is separate from grid charging: forced charge describes the control action, while grid charging describes where the energy comes from. The setting can be used for a planned off-peak charge, a test of charging behaviour or a specific operating arrangement, but it does not guarantee savings, backup power or tariff compatibility. The battery may stop charging when it reaches the configured state of charge or another manufacturer limit.
