G98 notification

A G98 notification is the post-installation notice sent to a DNO for an eligible small generation or export-capable storage installation that uses Engineering Recommendation G98.

A G98 notification is the post-installation notice or installation document sent to the DNO for an eligible small generation or export-capable storage installation under Engineering Recommendation G98. It usually records that a fully type-tested micro-generator within the G98 scope has been installed and commissioned, with the DNO notified afterwards through the relevant G98 form or online submission. In home energy paperwork, it most often appears around smaller solar PV systems, export-capable batteries, hybrid inverters and vehicle-to-grid equipment where the equipment falls within the G98 limits. It is not the same as the wider G98 notification pathway, a G99 application, a DNO approval letter, an export MPAN, SEG tariff registration, an MCS certificate, planning consent or permission to change the system later.
