A G99 application is an apply-to-connect submission sent to a DNO before certain generation, storage or export-capable equipment is installed or commissioned under ENA Engineering Recommendation G99.

A G99 application is the apply-to-connect submission made to a DNO before certain generation, storage or export-capable equipment is installed or commissioned under ENA Engineering Recommendation G99. It is used where the proposed equipment or combined site arrangement sits outside the G98 connect-and-notify route, such as larger solar PV, export-capable battery storage or a small-generation procedure that relies on G100 export limitation. The DNO assesses the proposed connection before the work proceeds and may confirm it can go ahead, ask for amendments or set connection conditions. It is not the approval itself, a DNO notification, a G98 notification, a G100 export-limiting scheme, an export MPAN, SEG registration, an MCS certificate, planning consent, product certification or permission for later equipment changes.
