Ground source heat pump

A ground source heat pump, often shortened to GSHP, is a heat pump system that collects heat from the ground through a buried ground loop, trench pipework or borehole and uses electricity to raise that heat to a useful temperature for home heating and sometimes hot water. The term identifies the heat source and collector arrangement, not a promise about running cost, efficiency, grant eligibility, installation disruption or whether a property has enough land for the ground array.
