Heat exchanger

A heat exchanger is a component that transfers heat between two fluids, gases or circuits while keeping the media separated. In home energy documents, the term can describe a boiler heat exchanger, a heat pump condenser or evaporator, a hot-water-cylinder heat exchanger or a separate water-to-water unit between a source loop and the heat pump. It identifies the heat-transfer component, not the whole heating system, heat pump output, cylinder capacity, efficiency, water quality, commissioning quality or suitability for a particular installation.
