Home charger

A home charger is a common name for an EV chargepoint installed at a home so an EV can charge from the property's electrical supply rather than from a public charger.

A home charger is a common name for an EV chargepoint installed at a home so an EV can charge from the property's electrical supply. In UK material the same object may be called a home chargepoint, EV chargepoint or private domestic charge point, and many new private domestic charge points sold in Great Britain sit within smart-chargepoint rules. The term does not by itself confirm the charging power, socket or tethered-cable arrangement, vehicle compatibility, smart-tariff support, solar-divert capability, dynamic load balancing, grant eligibility, installation approval or whether the property supply and parking arrangement are suitable.
