Hot water priority control is a heat pump control behaviour that gives cylinder reheating priority over space heating.

Hot water priority control is a heat pump control behaviour that gives DHW (domestic hot water) cylinder reheating priority over space heating for a requested hot-water period. On many systems the heat pump switches into hot-water mode, space heating pauses or reduces and heating resumes after the cylinder demand is satisfied or the control period ends. The term appears in controller schedules, installer handover notes and manufacturer support material. It is not the same as domestic hot water itself, a hot-water cylinder, immersion boost, a Legionella cycle, heat pump sizing or proof that the system can meet every hot-water or room-temperature pattern.
