Hybrid inverter

A hybrid inverter is an inverter that works with both solar PV and battery storage, converting DC electricity and controlling battery charging or discharging within the unit's design limits.

Hybrid inverter means an inverter designed to serve a solar PV array and a battery storage system through one unit. It converts DC electricity from the PV array or battery into AC electricity for the home, and in supported designs it can also control battery charging from solar generation or the grid. A hybrid inverter is not the same as a battery, a standalone string inverter, a home energy management system or a guarantee of whole-home backup, tariff savings or unlimited export.
