ICCB on Mode 2 leads

An ICCB (in-cable control box) is the control and protection box built into a Mode 2 EV charging lead between the supply plug and the vehicle connector.

An ICCB (in-cable control box) is the box on a Mode 2 EV charging lead that provides the lead's control and protection functions between the socket supply and the vehicle. In standards language this is closely related to an IC-CPD (in-cable control and protection device), the portable device used for Mode 2 charging with residual-current detection and circuit-opening protection. The label identifies the in-cable box and its role on the lead, not proof that a socket, circuit, extension lead, outdoor position, charge current or vehicle setup is suitable. It is different from a fixed Mode 3 chargepoint and does not by itself provide smart scheduling, solar charging, dynamic load balancing or tariff control.
