IET EV charging code

The IET (Institution of Engineering and Technology) EV charging code is the Code of Practice for EV Charging Equipment Installation, an IET guidance publication for EV chargepoint and charging-equipment work. It explains planning considerations, physical and electrical installation requirements, inspection, testing and related standards context for domestic, on-street, commercial and industrial charging locations. The 5th Edition reflects BS 7671 (Requirements for Electrical Installations), the EVs (Smart Charge Points) Regulations 2021, Approved Document S, accessibility guidance, fire-safety guidance, Mode 4 rapid charging, V2G (vehicle-to-grid) and V2H (vehicle-to-home) developments and DNO notification context. It is practitioner guidance, not a certificate, DNO approval, planning permission, product compliance statement, grant approval, warranty cover or proof that a specific EV chargepoint installation is safe, compliant or correctly designed.
