In-home display

Also known as IHD

An in-home display is the small portable screen paired with a smart meter that shows recent energy use, cost and, for prepayment meters, credit information inside the home.

In-home display means the small portable screen, often shortened to IHD, that is paired with a smart meter and shows household energy use inside the home. It can show electricity use close to real time, gas updates at a slower interval, costs in pounds and pence and prepayment credit where supported. It is separate from the smart meter itself, the supplier app, the bill, export meter readings, SEG registration, export MPAN setup and any smart-tariff or device-control setting.
