In-roof solar mounting

In-roof solar mounting is a pitched-roof solar PV mounting approach where the PV modules and a roof-integration or flashing kit replace part of the normal roof covering. The system sits closer to the roof plane than above-roof rails, so the mounting kit becomes part of the weathering layer around the array as well as the support for the modules. In MCS solar work, roof-integrated or above-roof pitched-roof systems are normally tied to MCS 012 (Pitched Roof Installation Kits) certification or equivalent evidence for the specific mounting system. The term should be read with the product certificate, module compatibility, roof pitch, roof covering, wind loading, fire performance, weather-tightness, structural assessment and manufacturer instructions for the site.
