Inverter efficiency

Inverter efficiency describes how much electrical energy remains after an inverter converts electricity between DC and AC.

Inverter efficiency is a percentage used to describe conversion losses inside an inverter. In a solar PV system it usually compares DC input from the array with AC output from the inverter, while a hybrid or battery inverter datasheet may show separate PV maximum efficiency, Euro efficiency and charge or discharge efficiency figures. The term describes one part of the system loss picture, but it is not the same as round-trip battery efficiency, MPPT efficiency, inverter clipping, annual generation, export approval or proof of correct system design.
